Crush place Hunter on IR, sign Pickens to active roster

DENVER â The Colorado Crush have placed offensive/defensive lineman Hugh Hunter on injured reserve with a strained left groin, and signed OL/DL Derrick Pickens to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced today. The roster moves leave the Crush with 20 players on the active roster.
Hunter (6-2, 260, Hampton), in his eighth AFL season and second with the Crush, originally suffered the injury in the Crush's 66-58 win at Dallas on March 25. He was placed on injured reserve, missing two games before returning for the team's loss at Chicago on April 17. He re-aggravated the injury during the game at Chicago. Prior to this season, he had not missed a game since the opening week of 2001 season while with Milwaukee, snapping a streak of 67 straight games played prior to this injury.
Per league rules, Hunter must miss two weeks and thus will be eligible to return to action when the Crush travel to New Orleans on May 8.
Pickens (6-1, 280, Iowa) is in his second season with the Crush, but has yet to appear in an AFL game. He missed the entire 2004 season with a right shoulder injury and spent the first eight games of this season on injured reserve after hurting his left ankle during training camp while the team was practicing in Las Vegas with the Gladiators. He was activated for the team's game vs. Las Vegas on April 3, but was inactive on gameday. Following the game he was waived and signed to the practice squad.
