Colorado Crush News Release
DENVER, Colo. - Excitement and energy abound in the Rocky Mountains as the Colorado Crush announced they will begin preparations for the 2008 season with training camp practices beginning on Wednesday, February 6.
"Training camp is always a crucial period for us," head coach Mike Dailey said. "We do a lot of evaluating and the tone for our season is really set then, so we want it to be energized and successful."
The Crush will look to build off a productive offseason that saw the signing of several new faces including former AFL Rookie of the Year Ben Nelson. The Crush will enter the season looking for their fifth consecutive playoff appearance and return to their championship form of 2005 when they won Arena Bowl XIX.
The Crush will carry the AFL maximum of 37 players going into February 6 and will whittle the roster down to 24 players by February 25; three weeks after reporting.
"There is going to be competition at a lot of positions, healthy competition," Dailey said. "At the end of camp we always have a lot of tough decisions to make."
The Crush will go through the check-in process, receive physicals, and go through important team meetings that will lay the foundation for the season on Monday and Tuesday. Players will hit the field running on Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m.
The Crush will practice everyday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the exception of weekends (players off) until February 18 at Five Star Stadium in Thornton.
