Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY (June 27, 2012) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the club has named Julien BriseBois general manager of the Crunch and promoted Vance Lederman to senior vice president of business operations.
BriseBois, who is the assistant general manager for the Tampa Bay Lightning, will oversee the hockey operations of the Syracuse Crunch as general manager. Now a two-time Calder Cup winning executive, BriseBois joined the Lightning staff in July of 2010. He was the general manager of the AHL Norfolk Admirals the past two seasons, leading the team to the Calder Cup in 2012.
BriseBois previously spent nine years in the Montreal Canadiens' organization in various capacities, overseeing hockey operations of Montreal's AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, in their Calder Cup Championship year of 2006-07. Afterwards, he was elevated to general manager of the Bulldogs, serving in that capacity from 2007-2010. As a general manager in the American Hockey League, BriseBois has been responsible for the hiring of two AHL Coaches of the Year; Guy Boucher of the Hamilton Bulldogs in 2009-10 and Jon Cooper of the Norfolk Admirals in 2011-12.
"Julien is certainly one of the outstanding young minds in the business and we have great confidence that under his direction the hockey side of the organization will be the strongest it has ever been," said Crunch Owner Howard Dolgon.
Lederman has been an executive in the Crunch's front office since joining the staff in the winter of 1996. Prior the joining the Crunch, the Brooklyn, N.Y. native served as treasurer for AST, Inc., one of Europe's leading steel manufacturers. A graduate of Brooklyn (N.Y.) College, Lederman began his career in finance as the credit director at Cannon USA, and spent 12 years in that field before joining the Crunch on a full-time basis.
"For years Vance has been responsible for the day-to-day business and financial operations of the hockey club," said Dolgon. "This is a title that more accurately reflects his job description and role with our organization."
The Crunch will hold the 2012-13 season home opener on October 13 at the War Memorial Arena. Tickets for the Crunch's 2012-13 campaign are on sale now and can be purchased either in person at the Crunch Box Office located in the War Memorial at 800 South State Street in Syracuse, or by calling the office at (315) 473- 4444.
