Crunch Acquires Defenseman Zenith Komarniski From Manitoba

Syracuse, NY (October 30, 2003) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Zenith Komarniski from Vancouver in exchange for center Sean Pronger.

Komarniski, 25, has appeared in 10 games with Manitoba this season, recording 35 penalty minutes. Komarniski appeared in 100 games with Syracuse from 1998-2000, recording 13 goals, 31 assists and 219 penalty minutes. In 240 career AHL games with Syracuse and Manitoba, Komarniski, has tallied 33 goals, 59 assists and 501 penalty minutes.

Originally, selected by Vancouver in the third round, 75th overall, in the 1996 Entry Draft, Komarniski has appeared in 19 NHL games with Vancouver, recording one goal, one assist and 10 penalty minutes. He becomes the second player (Reggie Savage) to appear for the Crunch as a member of both the Columbus and Vancouver organizations.

Pronger, 30, appeared in seven games with Syracuse this season, tallying two goals and seven penalty minutes.

The Crunch travel to Milwaukee on Friday, October 31 for an 8 p.m. match-up. Crunch action can be heard on SportsRadio 620 with play-by-play announcer Bob McElligott.
