Edmonton Capitals News Release
The Edmonton Cracker-Cats announced today the signing of Kelowna southpaw Geoff White. A veteran of 3 seasons with Jamestown College in North Dakota, the British Columbia left-hander helped lead the "Jimmies" to three consecutive DAC-10 Conference championships and a trip to the NAIA World Series in 2004. White's statistics include a career 18-10 record, 4.18 ERA with 119 strikeouts in 34 games and 181 innings pitched. On the 28th of March 2004 White threw a complete game no-hitter against Dakota State University, ranked 18th in the nation. It was the 1st no hitter in team history.
"We think White has tremendous upside", said Cracker-Cats Filed Manager Terry Bevington. "He throws strikes, possesses a good change up and holds runners well. He has a real good shot at a spot in our starting rotation" Bevington went on to say that: "White is the most exciting left-hander to come out of Kelowna since Paul Spoljaric".
In 2003 and 2004 White was a teammate of former Winnipeg Goldeyes infielder Scott Wallis and 2005 Northern League Rookie of the Year Brent Krause of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.
The Cracker-Cats roster currently stands at 14 players (seven pitchers, one catcher, four infielders, and two outfielders).
