Coyotes Recall Summers from Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled defenseman Chris Summers from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound Summers has recorded 2-9-11 and 47 PIM in 47 games with Portland this season.

The 25-year-old native of Ann Arbor, Mich., has appeared in five games with the Coyotes this season and has registered 0-3-3 with 24 PIM in 28 career NHL games.

Summers was originally drafted by Phoenix in the first round (29th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
