Central Valley Coyotes News Release
(Manchester, NH.) - Going into Friday night's opening round playoff game between the Central Valley Coyotes (11-6) and the host team, the Manchester Wolves (10-7), many thought it would be the Wolves' experience that would be the deciding factor in the game. 14 rookies on the Coyotes 21 man roster thought different as one of those rookies, kicker Mikael Bjork, took out the Wolves 42-41 with a last second game winning field goal.
"I was a little nervous because of they way they finished the season so strong at 5-0. They beat South Georgia, Wilkes Barre Scranton, and Florida, three of the best teams in the league," said Coyote Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. "But, we know from experience that sometimes you forget what it's like to lose and you get over confident. Last year we finished the regular season with seven wins in a row and got beat in the first round."
"Wednesday morning we left Fresno at 4:00am on a four hour bus ride to Los Angeles. We then split up on three different flights with the last flight getting into Manchester at 2:00am Thursday morning. After that trip and this win our guys showed us that they have what it takes to compete with any team in this league. This is the best Coyote team we've ever had!"
The Coyotes had to wait until Saturday for the outcome of the Wilkes/Barre Scranton Pioneers and Tri-Cities Fever round one match up for their round 2 opponent and whether they would be a home or once again on the road.
The Pioneers escaped with the a 57-54 win over Tri-Cities, meaning that the Coyotes will once again hit the skies traveling to Pennsylvania on Thursday to play Saturday at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes Barre at 7 P.M.
