Central Valley Coyotes News Release

FRESNO – The Central Valley Coyotes of the arenafootball2 league have been assigned wide receiver/defensive back Anthony Arceneaux and wide/receiver defensive back Kenyatte Morgan, head coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. announced today.

"We just picked up some instant offense," Biletnikoff Jr. said. "Obviously it's good to have Kenyatte back with the unbelievable season he had last year and Arceneaux is a guy that I coached against last year that really caught my eye. It will be much more comfortable to have him on our side of the ball this season."

Arceneaux (5-10, 180 pounds) will be entering his third season in af2 after spending two years with the Hawaiian Islanders. Last season, he was Hawaii's leading receiver with 65 catches for 1,026 yards and 26 touchdowns. Defensively, he recorded 29 tackles, seven pass deflections, two interceptions and one score. The triple threat also had five kickoff returns for a touchdown.

In his rookie year with the Islanders, Arceneaux hauled in 27 receptions for 408 yards and eight touchdowns. At defensive back he tallied 24 tackles, seven pass deflections and two interceptions.

Born in Honolulu, Haw., Arceneaux prepped at St. Louis High where he won two Prep Bowls.

Morgan (5-8, 175 pounds), who was a first-team All-Arena selection, was on the verge of making af2 history last season as he came up just 15 yards short of breaking the all-time season yardage record. As the league leader in total yards (3,457), Morgan was also ranked third in the league in receptions (118) and fifth in the league in receiving yards (1,472). In addition to his 27 receiving touchdowns, the three-way star was the league's top return man with 1,896 yards on 87 returns including three that were taken back for scores.

The double threat was a member of the Arena Football League's Grand Rapids Rampage in 2002 and averaged 11.2 yards for 8 kick returns. It was the fourth AFL season for the Montana State alumnus, who made his professional debut with the Portland Forest Dragons in 1999, moving on to the Oklahoma Wranglers in 2000 and the Buffalo Destroyers in 2001. Prior to signing with the Destroyers, he played seven games with the af2's Richmond Speed. In 2003, Morgan had brief stints with the NFL's Green Bay Packers, the NFL Europe League's Scottish Claymores and the Canadian Football League's Calgary Stampeders.

A two-time, second-team All-Big Sky Conference selection as a return specialist/wide receiver at Montana State, Morgan was second on the team in receptions (32) and yards (498) as a senior and also averaged 24.9 yards for 12 kickoff returns, including a 91-yard scoring runback against Cal State.

Born on July 3, 1975, Morgan was a three-sport athlete (football, basketball and track) at Inglewood (Calif.) High where was named student athlete of the year three times.

The Coyotes will kick off their 2005 af2 season with an exhibition game at Selland Arena on March 27. The regular season starts on the road in Bakersfield on April 2. Fifty dollar deposits for 2005 Coyote season tickets, which include all nine games played at Selland Arena, are now being accepted at 559-263-9780.
