Central Valley Coyotes News Release

Saturday night found the Coyotes battling at home against their division rival, the Everett Hawks, in order to keep pace with the Shock and Blitz in the National West. After getting off to a rocky start, the Hawks have been able to begin a slow turnaround winning their last two contests. Coyotes' James Lewis was having a career night for receptions in the first half, but neither team really showed enough on either side of the ball to give them an edge as the first half ended in a tie at 27 all.

A series of turnovers launched the third quarter with the Coyotes turning the ball over on downs, followed by back-to-back interceptions - one by each team. As they traded defensive jabs, Everett seemed to wear down the Coyotes as they took their first lead with slightly more than eight minutes left in the game. Like a bear awakening from his winter nap, tired and annoyed, the Coyotes came out of their hibernation and hit the Hawks hard. They dropped quarterback Brian Baker for big losses and then forced Everett to give them the ball on downs as the game clock winded down. Central Valley battled to the end and proved to be the better team topping the Hawks, 54-48.

Coyotes' quarterback Scott Rislov had another phenomenal game throwing for seven touchdowns and running for an eighth. He collected honors as the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game passing for 276 yards. For his efforts, Lewis was recognized as having the Cutters' Catch of the game. Lewis ended the night with 130 yards.
