Coyotes Assigned Bryant

The Central Valley Coyotes have been assigned, by the Af2 league office, AFL veteran wide receiver Maurice Bryant for the 2007 season.

In 2004, he was a wide receiver for the "Mean Machine" in the remake f the 1974 classic "The Longest Yard". In 2005, he portrayed former Dallas Cowboy wide receiver Drew Pearson in the Disney/NFL film "Invincible". And in 2006 he played a Xavier University wide receiver (#19) in the newly released "We Are Marshall". In 2007, he will star as "Maurice Bryant, Wide Receiver for the Central Valley Coyotes", himself.

After transferring from Los Angeles Valley College, Bryant letter for the University of Houston in 1996 and 1997 where he finished his career with the Cougars with 49 receptions for 634 yards and two touchdowns and was a member of the 1996 S. Jude Liberty Bowl Team. A six-year veteran of the Arena Football League, Bryant has spent time with the Arizona Rattlers, the Las Vegas Gladiators and the Philadelphia Soul.

In 2000, with the Arizona Rattlers, Bryant burst on the AFL scene catching 11 passes for 202 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Iowa Barnstormers. His 2001 season was highlighted by a 12 reception, 127 yard, and 4 touchdown game against the New York Dragons. In four years with Arizona Bryant accounted for 177 catches for 2,404 yards 53 touchdowns. He would play the 2004 season with the Las Vegas Gladiators and against his former team (Arizona) that year he had 11 receptions for 76 yards and 3 touchdowns.

"The athletic ability of Maurice, and his experience, are a great addition to what we think is a very good group of receivers," said Coyote Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. "He has played in seven AFL playoff games and that experience can't be coached."

Bryant had some great performances over his AFL career but he saved his best for those 7 playoff games. In 6 playoff games and one Arena Bowl appearance he caught 51 receptions for 663 yards and 15 touchdowns. His AFL career totals include 213 catches 2,770 yards 62 touchdowns.
