Coyotes Announce First Tryout for 2009 Team

(Fresno, Calif.)- As the af2 football league moves into its tenth season, the Central Valley Coyotes announce that their first open tryout will be held Saturday, December 6th in Fresno at 12:00 pm at the Velocity Sports Performance facility. Registration for the workout will begin at 12:00pm and conclude at 12:50pm. The workout will begin at 1:00pm. The Coyotes head into their sixth season in the af2 and are coming off their 3rd playoff season in a row.
"After making the playoffs three years in a row and beating Arkansas last year for another playoff win, the phones haven't stopped ringing with players wanting to play here," stated Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr.
Attire for the tryout will be shorts or sweats, tee shirts or sweat shirts. Participants must bring both shoes for indoor testing and cleats for outdoor testing. The first part of the testing will be indoors and players will be tested in the 40 yard dash, a 3 Cone L Drill, the bench press (225 x max reps), the vertical jump, and the 20 yard short shuttle. No screw-ins or no molded spikes will be allowed in the Velocity Training Center.
"Velocity owner Bill Costa has put together a state-of-the-art training facility right here in Fresno and for the third year in a row we are fortunate to have him and his staff host our tryout. Each 40 yard dash will be electronically timed, the vertical jump testing will be electronically measured, and each drill will be done on indoor turf. There will be no excuses for players not to perform at their best."
The second portion of the tryout, if weather permitting, will be conducted at Hoover High School. When testing is done at Velocity, the group will head outdoors to continue with position specific drills and 1 on 1's. Hoover High School is directly across the street from the Velocity facility. Cleats will be needed for this portion of the tryout.
