Playoffs and rivalries could be the recipe for a perfect storm, as the Kalamazoo Wings battle the Fort Wayne Komets in game one of the Turner Cup Playoffs. In their IHL history, the arch-rivals have met five times in the post-season, with the K-Wings skating away with three playoff series victories.
Finishing the regular season strong, Kalamazoo went 9-1-1-1 in their final 12 games, including a 4-3 victory last Friday night versus Fort Wayne at Wings Stadium. The K-Wings were 9-6-1-0 against the Komets this season.
With home ice advantage throughout the playoffs, the Komets have played well at home going 21-9-3-5 at Allen County Memorial Coliseum. Fort Wayne finished the regular season winning nine of their final 10 games, with their lone setback occurring against Kalamazoo.

Spreading the Wealth
The Kalamazoo Wings can look to a number of different players to light the lamp in the upcoming playoffs. Seven players on the K-Wings roster have scored 20+ goals during the regular season; Dominic Osman (32), Lucas Drake (28), Rick Cleaver (27), Glenn Detulleo (26), Tommy Lange (25), Mark Nebus (24), and Anthony Battaglia (20).
Streaking Along
Joel Martin continues to be dominant between the pipes. Martin finished the regular season on a four-game win streak and six-game unbeaten streak.
Road Warriors
The K-Wings have felt comfortable away from home as of late. They are currently on a six-game road unbeaten streak, their longest of the season, going 4-0-1-1 during that stretch.
Finishing Strong
The K-Wings were a plus-19 in goals scored during in the regular season in the third period, outscoring their opponents 91 to 72. That is the largest third period scoring differential in the league.
