Additionally, California is scheduled to host the Wenatchee Fire FC on December 12 and the Tacoma Stars on December 19 at Estadio Azteca Sports Arena in Sacramento.
California's 2009-10 regular season officially started with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Sockers at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on November 20. San Diego trailed 4-1 in the fourth quarter before starting their comeback. Kraig Chiles stunned the Cougars with both the equalizing goal in the fourth and the overtime winner. The Sockers remained undefeated with the win and their perfect 4-0 record leads the way in the PASL-Pro's Western Division.
Despite the season opening loss, the Cougars managed a road split by rallying for a 6-4 win the following night on November 21 in Tijuana. Nelson Santana's brilliant midfield goal brought the Cougars back into the match. They trailed 3-0 before Sananta's long strike, and went on to score six unanswered goals for the eventual 6-4 win.
The Cougars opened their fifth consecutive season of professional indoor soccer with a 9-8 exhibition win versus the "Stars of Mexico" on November 8 at Stockton Arena.
Denver has started their second PASL-Pro season with two straight home losses. The San Diego Sockers handed the Dynamite a 12-6 loss on November 14 and the Texas Outlaws did the same on November 21. Through two matches, Tony Thomas leads the Dynamite with two goals and five assists for seven points this season.
The Cougars were 2-0 versus the Dynamite last season. They defeated Denver 15-5 on November 22, 2008 at Stockton Arena, and 18-12 on February 21, 2009 in Denver. Majell Aterado and Ato Leone both had hat tricks in Stockton's home win over Denver last season. Aterado and Brian Farber combined for six of the 18 goals put up by the Cougars during their road win versus the Dynamite.
The Dynamite finished their inaugural season 9-7, and appeared in the PASL-Pro championship tournament at Stockton Arena last year. Former Cougars forward Chris Handsor led the Dynamite with four goals in their 10-9 opening round match versus Oaxaca in last years championship tournament.
