BUSY TIMES FOR THE ‘KINGS CHANGES IN THE AIR FOR THE COTTON KINGS

LUBBOCK, TX: May 7, 2003 – This release is an update of events going on within the Cotton Kings organization.

Royal Years: The upcoming 2003/2004 season of Cotton Kings hockey will serve as the organization's fifth season of existence. To mark the special season, the Cotton Kings have revealed a special fifth-year secondary logo. The logo, similar to the current secondary crest/shield logo, will feature a black oval with the team name circulating around the boundaries with the numeral 5 located in the middle of the oval. Two hockey sticks cross each other through the oval with the term "Royal Years" labeled underneath the numeral 5. The logo will be used throughout this season in marketing and merchandising aspects and possibly integrated into the team's uniforms.

"Welcome to the Kingdom!": The Cotton Kings are pleased to announce that Todd Chisnell has joined the Cotton Kings front office staff as the Director of Corporate Marketing/Advertising. The Philadelphia native replaces Monti Valeri, who is no longer with the organization, and will oversee all aspects of the organization's corporate sales and marketing ventures for team sponsors. Chisnell has lived in Lubbock for the past ten years working in the local media field, and has served as the public address announcer for the Cotton Kings for all four seasons. He accepts the position with the Kings after working six years as a Production Manager and Creative Services Director with Fox 34/Ramar Communications. Chisnell is an alumnus of Northeastern Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana and holds a Bachelors degree in Radio/TV Film Management with a minor in Journalism and an Associates degree in Broadcasting. While at Northeastern Louisiana, Chisnell was fortunate to broadcast in the 1984 NCAA Women's Final Four held in Austin. He continues to reside in Lubbock with his wife Sandra and their children Alyssa and Cole. "Serving as the PA announcer for the ‘Kings over the previous four seasons, Todd already stands as an icon our fans can associate with," said ‘Kings General Manager Mark Adams. "He has lived here long enough to build relationships within the business community and he is great hockey enthusiast."

Coaching Search: The Cotton Kings coaching selection continues to progress, as the ‘Kings search for their fourth coach in franchise history. "This coaching search has been difficult, but in a positive way," said Adams. "Usually you narrow down your candidates down to two or three and go from there, but we have over a handful of candidates that each bring a certain aspect to the table that is appealing to our search committee. We have talked with hockey representatives from around the country about our short list of coaches and they all say the same thing, that we have excellent candidates and each one of them would be a great fit for Lubbock." It would not be fair to release some of the names of the candidates, but the candidates range from coaches with prior championships under their belt to coaches with NHL coaching and playing experience. The Cotton Kings have been reviewing candidates since the departure of Tracy Egeland and awaiting coaching movements around the country to take place, as several other leagues are still continuing. The team will continue to stick with their current goal of having a coach in place prior to the CHL league meetings in June.
