New York - The New York Cosmos announced today that the club will play two additional preseason games in California kicking off at 7 p.m. PST on Saturday, February 20 against Armenian first division side, Ararat Yerevan FC, at Citrus College Stadium followed by a fixture against Fresno Fuego on Wednesday, February 24 at Chukchansi Park with kick-off at 6.30 p.m. PST.
The club will play three fixtures in California, organized by Champions Soccer, including a game against the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, February 27 at Avaya Stadium, which was announced last week.
"We are delighted to add another two fixtures to our preseason campaign," said New York Cosmos Head Coach Giovanni Savarese.
"All three teams will be a good test for us and the warmer climate of California will certainly be welcomed," he added.
Ararat Yerevan FC competes in the Armenian Premier League and are the most popular club in Armenia. They've won two league titles and seven Armenian Cups. The club's head coach, Varuzhan Sukiasyan, also manages the Armenian national team.
New York Cosmos Assistant Coach, Alecko Eskandarian said: "I'm very excited about the fixture against Ararat. Soccer is a big part of Armenian culture so this game will no doubt have a lot of passion as well as support from the Armenian community."
USL Premier Development League team, Fresno Fuego has earned four Southwest division titles since its debut match in 2003.
San Jose Earthquakes play in the Major League Soccer division. They have won two MLS Cup titles, in 2001 and 2003, and two Supporters' Shields in 2005 and 2012.
The Cosmos' 2016 North American Soccer League season begins in April. The full schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
