The Katy Copperheads regrettably announce today that they will move their home playoff game to Beaumont at Ford Arena on Saturday July 8, 2006 at 7:05 p.m. The Pacific South Division Champions were slated to originally host the game on July 10, 2006 at the Merrell Center.
The July 10, 2006 date was to be the Copperheads version of "Monday Night Football" at the Leonard Merrell Center. However, issues with the venue made it difficult for the Copperheads to have a home playoff date. The Merrell Center has booked every weekend date in July and slow ticket sales for the Monday game prompted this decision.
Copperheadfans.com, the official fan partner of Katy Copperheads Football, has announced that there is tailgating space available for upcoming football road trip to Beaumont. Fans interested in attending this game are encouraged to contact J. Ronald Oswalt at (832) 754-7666 at http://www.copperheadfans.com/. The fan group will tailgate with the Drillers fan group called the Drillers Krewe at the Ford Arena around 3pm. We have already recruited this group to several of our tailgating events and we want to show them that Copperhead Spirit.
We also had an event in Beaumont earlier in the season on May 6 which resulted in a 48-34 Copperheads win.
The Copperheads are currently the Pacific South Division Champions with an 11-3 record. This game should be a one and done event for those Drillers.
To receive free playoff tickets go to the ticket booth at the Ford Arena in Beaumont and request Copperhead Seating. Tickets will be set aside for Katy fans in special sections.
