Albany, NY- The Albany Conquest, behind a dominating 1st half performance defeated the New Haven Ninjas 64-42 in front of 5,397 at Pepsi Arena. The Conquest record improves to 8-1 while New Haven record falls to 3-6. Game MVP Ryan Vena completed 19-of-21 for 230 yards and a season high seven touchdowns. Vena also ran the ball three times for 23 yards and a score. The Conquest opened the game with 23 un-answered points and led 44-7 at halftime. The Conquest held the Ninjas to negative 17 yards in the first quarter. Corey Hill led all receivers with ten catches for 120 yards and four touchdowns. The Albany Conquest defense rattled New Haven's two-quarterback system the whole first half. Jarrod Rouanzoin and Chris Boden failed to complete a pass while Rouanzoin threw one interception in the first quarter. The Ninjas finally got on the board when Rouanzoin connected with Anthony Comer on a 37-yard strike at the 11:13 mark of the 2nd quarter. Five Conquest receivers got in the endzone, led by Hill's four. Jason Mattes, Adriel Linyear, John Stuart and Matt Vittengl each chipped in with a touchdown. Only two Ninjas' receiver caught passes with Chris Ortiz totaling five catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns while Comer had four receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns. The Conquest and Ninjas continue their home and home series next week in New Haven. Kickoff is set for 7pm at the New Haven Coliseum.
