BENSENVILLE, IL—The Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League would like to announce the verbal commitment of goaltender Shane Connelly to the University of Wisconsin. Shane will finish this season for the Steel and begin his career as a Badger in the fall of 2005.

Shane will be skating for Mike Eaves, who just finished his second season leading the Badgers. Wisconsin is a member of the WCHA, one of the toughest and most respected collegiate hockey conferences. UW has been responsible for developing such players as Chris Chelios (Detroit Redwings, NHL) and Danny Heatley (Atlanta Thrashers, NHL).

"Wisconsin is going to be a great fit for Shane. I give credit to Shane and his family. They took there time when most kids nowadays are committing to quickly," comments Steel Head Coach/General Manager Wil Nichol. "It's a great opportunity for Shane and for the University of Wisconsin.
