Connecticut Signs Shenneika Smith

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (April 23, 2014) - The Connecticut Sun announced today it has signed 6-foot-1 guard Shenneika Smith to a training camp contract.

Selected by the New York Liberty in the third round of the 2013 WNBA Draft with the 25th overall pick, Smith was the leading scorer in each of her last three seasons at St. John's. She finished her collegiate career ranked fifth in program history in rebounds (783), fourth in scoring (1,727 points) and third in blocked shots (156). Smith was waived last May by the Liberty after averaging 7.6 points in three preseason games.

Smith is currently playing for Lombos Quinta of Portugal, where she is averaging 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. She also played eight games for Uni Girona of Spain this past offseason.
