
Commandos Defeat Mayhem, Improve To 2-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Cincinnati jumped to a 22-0 lead midway through the second-quarter to cruise to a 48-19 win over Marion Friday in Continental Indoor Football League action.
Former University of Cincinnati product Ben Mauk ran for an 11 yard touchdown and threw for two more before the Mayhem could muster an answer, and they did answer, scoring three touchdowns to cut it to 22-16 but could pull no closer.
Cincinnati (2-0) outscored Marion (0-1) 24-3 in the second half.
When the dust settled, Mauk connected on 14-of-21 passes for 192 yards and five touchdowns. Mauk would finish with 34 yards rushing on seven carries.
Greg Moore rushed 10 times for 53 yards and a touchdown. Dominick Goodman had five receptions for 52 yards - two of those catches were touchdowns.
Cincinnati finished with 269 yards of total offense - 78 rushing, 191 passing.
Marion quarterback Josh Davis rushed 13 times for 90 yards and two touchdowns. He also finished with 11-of-27 passing, including three interceptions, for 71 yards. Davis was sacked five times, three of those by Commandos defensive lineman James Spikes. Mike Tatum caught four passes for 42 yards. Kenneth Hampton also had fourreceiptions for 23 yards.
Marion tallied 134 yards - 45 passing, 89 rushing.
Cincinnati returns to action Friday at Fort Wayne, Marion hosts Chicago also Friday night.
