Command and Comets Announce Partnership
August 23, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Kansas City Command News Release
The Kansas City Command Arena Football League team announced today an exciting and unique partnership with the Missouri Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League that will combine resources for ticket and sponsorship sales, marketing and other common areas for the franchises.
"The Kansas City Command is committed to creating the best atmosphere in the AFL at Sprint Center," said Command owner Chris Likens. "We believe partnering with the Comets, a proven success story in this market, will allow us to bring back the arena energy AFL fans are used to in Kansas City."
"The Missouri Comets and the Kansas City Command are two of our city's premier professional arena sports teams that play in first-class venues, the Independence Events Center and Sprint Center," said Comets team president Brian Budzinski. "The synergies that are created between the collaboration of the two brands will offer the Kansas City community a truly fan-first experience."
A cooperative staff will immediately begin the process of selling 2012 Command season tickets. Fans may place orders by calling the new Command ticket hotline at 855-KC-ARENA. All 2011 Command season ticket holders will be contacted in the coming weeks regarding renewal options. And the staff will specifically reach out to former Kansas City Brigade season ticket holders, presenting them with special options in an effort to regain their support of Kansas City Arena Football.
Additionally, the work has already begun to formulate an extensive marketing plan designed to integrate the Command into the fabric of the Kansas City sports marketplace. The outreach will be comprehensive, including traditional media advertising and numerous grass-roots community appearances. Combining the marketing efforts of the Command and Comets will provide the partnership added buying power with the flexibility of purchasing year-round advertising packages.
The combined staff will also sell both Command and Comets sponsorships. Potential business partners will have the option of sponsoring both teams at a discounted rate, exposing their products to Kansas City sports fans at least nine months out of the year and in two different state-of-the-art facilities.
"We intend to conduct business in a way that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our fans and business partners as well as the Greater Kansas City Metro as a whole," Budzinski said.
"The Comets organization is full of individuals who have a proven track record with sports franchises in Kansas City," Likens said. "We are very excited to add their expertise as a resource to help us make the Kansas City Command an organization the entire area can be proud of."
