
Comets Waive Two Players

HOUSTON â The Houston Comets announced today that the team has waived forwards LaTonya Johnson and Tracy Reid.
Johnson (6-1, Memphis â98) saw action in six games last season with the Comets after signing with Houston on September 2, 2004. She began last season in training camp with San Antonio but was waived by the Silver Stars on May 13, 2004. Overall, Johnson has averaged 3.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 179 games with the Utah Starzz (142 games), San Antonio (31 games) and Houston (6 games). Johnson entered the WNBA as a third-round selection (21st overall) by Utah in the 1998 WNBA Draft.
Reid (5-11, North Carolina â98), who signed with the Comets on February 28, 2005, holds career averages of 7.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 116 games with the Charlotte Sting (69 games), Miami Sol (21 games) and Phoenix Mercury (26 games). Selected by Charlotte in the first round (7th overall) of the 1998 WNBA Draft, Reid went on to capture the 1998 WNBA Rookie of the Year. Reid played three seasons with the Sting before moving on to Miami in a trade for Shanita Owens on November 3, 2000. After one season in Miami, she was traded by the Sol on March 4, 2002, along with the 13th overall pick in the 2002 WNBA Draft to Phoenix for Pollyanna Johns Kimbrough and the 15th pick in the 2002 WNBA Draft.
