Kansas City Comets News Release
The Ron Newman Cup Playoffs are set to return to Cable Dahmer Arena on Monday, April 8, when the Comets host Utica City FC in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at 6:30 p.m.
The Comets ended the season among the hottest teams in the MASL to earn a No. 3 seed in the East under first-year head coach Stefan Stokic. They will battle No. 2 UCFC in a best-of-three series. UCFC will host Game 2 on Monday, April 15. If the series is split 1-1, Game 3 will culminate shortly after the conclusion of Game 2.
This intriguing series will be a rematch of last season's Eastern Conference Play-In Game, where the Comets had their hearts shattered as they lost 7-6 in overtime on the road against UCFC.
The two teams have shown ferocity this season, but UCFC took the season series 2-1. Utica City won in OT at Cable Dahmer Arena in January before a regulation win several weeks later in Utica. The Comets got their lone win over UCFC this season with an 11-6 victory on March 10 at Cable Dahmer Arena.
Tickets for the game on April 8 are set to go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster.
