Comets Tina Thompson to Serve as Judge in Alley Theatre's Speech Competitions

Houston Comets forward Tina Thompson will serve as a judge for the final round of Alley Theatre's Barbara Jordan Project Speech Competitions.

WHAT: Thompson will serve as one of the judges to select a winner from among four female and four male Houston-area middle school students in the final round of Alley Theatre's Annual Barbara Jordan Memorial and T.F. Freeman Speech Competitions. The 2005 Barbara Jordan Project finale marks the fifth year of the Barbara Jordan Memorial Speech Competition for Girls, and the second time for a male contest with the T.F. Freeman Speech Competition for Boys.

History: Inspired by Barbara Jordan, the legendary Texas Congresswoman and orator, the speech competition is held in conjunction with a city-wide essay writing contest and play – Barbara Jordan: Texas Treasure – commissioned by the Alley Theatre with grants.
