
Comets Sign Michelle Snow

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets announced today that the team has signed center Michelle Snow. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Snow (6-5, Tennessee '02), who was named WNBA Most Improved Player of the Year in 2003, averaged 9.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.82 blocks in 34 starts last season. She made the biggest improvement from 2002 to 2003 in scoring average (3.9 in 2002 to 9.2 in 2003) and rebounds per game (3.7 in 2002 to 7.7 in 2003) over any player who saw action in at least 20 games in 2002. Snow set two single-season franchise records in 2003 with 62 blocked shots and 263 total rebounds, topping the previous marks of 46 blocks by Sheryl Swoopes in 1999 and 245 rebounds by Tina Thompson in 2000. She also registered a team-record and career-high 16 rebounds on May 24 at Phoenix, and set a franchise high and career best with eight blocked shots at San Antonio on June 20.
Overall, Snow has averaged 6.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.33 blocks in two seasons with the Comets. She ranks sixth in team history in scoring average (6.7) and second in field goal percentage (.490, 171-349). Snow originally joined the Comets as the 10th overall selection in the 2002 WNBA Draft.
