
Comets Sign Free Agent LaTonya Johnson

HOUSTON â The Houston Comets announced today that the team has signed free agent forward LaTonya Johnson. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Johnson (6-1, Memphis â98) has averaged 3.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 173 games with the Utah Starzz/San Antonio Silver Stars organization. Selected by Utah in the third round (21st overall) of the 1998 WNBA Draft, Johnson entered the 2004 season ranked second on the Silver Stars all-time list in games played and third in 3-pointers made. She also appeared in all seven of the Starzz playoff games averaging 3.0 points in 7.9 minutes per game. Johnson was waived by the Silver Stars on May 13, 2004.

A First-Team All-Conference USA selection in 1997-98, Johnson averaged 18.9 points and 5.8 rebounds during her college career at Memphis. She was also the sixth Lady Tiger to reach 2,000 points in a career.
Note: Johnson will wear jersey #23 with the Comets.
