Houston Comets News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets announced today the signings of Cynthia Jordan, Megan Moody and Astou Ndiaye-Diatta to free agent contracts. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Jordan (5-7, Temple '05) served as the Owls' starting point guard for two straight seasons, leading the team in assists (132) and finishing third in scoring (12.3 points) her senior year. Jordan scored 28 points to lead the Owls to a 71-60 win against Rutgers, which was their first victory over a ranked team since the 1989 season. She was selected to both the Atlantic 10 and the Philadelphia Big Five's First Teams in 2004-05. Jordan also graduated as the program's all-time leading free throw shooter (.782), finished third in 3-point field goal percentage (.364), and holds the Liacouras Center record for free throws made in a game (14) and assists in a game (9).

Moody (6-2, Tulsa '06) finished her collegiate career with averages of 9.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists at Tulsa (120 games, 86 starts). She is the school's sixth all-time leading scorer and ninth all-time leading rebounder. Moody is tied for first among the school's career leaders in games played (120), second in 3-pointers made (166) and third in career blocked shots (120). She was named to the 2006 Conference USA Second Team after starting all 32 games, averaging 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists her senior season.

Ndiaye-Diatta (6-3, Southern Nazarene '97) holds career averages of 8.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 148 (98 starts) games with the Detroit Shock (138) and Indiana Fever (10). In her previous WNBA season, she missed a majority of 2004 recovering from offseason surgery and nursing a bruised right knee. Her 2003 campaign was shortened to just 11 games after giving birth to triplets in April of that year. Her best season came in 2001 when she averaged career highs with 11.8 points, 1.5 assists and 0.9 blocks, along with 5.3 rebounds. She also achieved single-game career highs in points (27), assists (5), blocks (4), steals (3), field goals made (11), 3-point field goals made (2) and free throws made (5) that year.

This season will mark the 10th Anniversary for the Comets and the WNBA, making it the longest-running professional women's league in history. The 2006 season will tip off at Toyota Center on May 21 when the Comets host the San Antonio Silver Stars. Individual game tickets for the preseason and regular season will go on sale April 30.
