Comets and WNBA Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

WHO: Houston Comets guard/forward Kelley Gibson along with students from MacGregor Elementary and Judson Robinson Jr. Community Center

WHAT: Gibson will help the Houston Comets recognize National Girls and Women in Sports Day by hosting students from MacGregor Elementary and Judson Robinson Jr. Community Center in a visit to the John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science. Gibson will address the students on a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and exercise as well as fitness gained from playing sports. Gibson will also interact with the students on the Discovery Cart - Food Pyramid, and will lead the students through parts of the Amazing Body Pavilion.

History: 18th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (February 4, 2004) - Established in 1986 by joint resolution of Congress, NGWSD was created to acknowledge the achievements of women in sports and fitness as well as highlight the importance of sports and fitness for girls and women of all ages.
