Columbus Stun Surge with Comeback Win

Biloxi, MS - It was Columbus with the comeback win at the Coliseum tonight, overcoming a two goal established bu the Surge early in the first.

Joe Tolles got the puck rolling for the Surge scoring on a power play with assists from Kyle Kudroch and Evan Zych halfway through the first. Lucas LaBelle put the Surge up 2-0 with an assist by Jeff Martens, his first of two assists on the night. Columbus came right back matching the Surge's two goals in the second, both on power plays. Jordan Draper scored the first and Neilsson Arcibal scored the second.

Columbus really broke ahead in the third period, scoring their third straight goal when Preston Shupe slid one past Dan Clarke, who saved 38 out of 43 on the night. With an assist from Tom Craig and Jeff Martins, Lucas LaBelle tied the game at three for the Surge. The effort proved trivial however, when Sam Bowles sealed the deal for Columbus by scoring two goals for the Cottonmouths. Columbus' net minder Andrew Loewen saved 20 for 23 on the night.

The Surge face Columbus again tomorrow night, this time in Columbus, and return home to end the weekend against Pensacola on Saturday, March 1.
