Columbus, Roanoke Fill Spots

January 14, 2005 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 14 – The Columbus Riverdragons and the Roanoke Dazzle have both acquired players from the National Basketball Development League available player pool to bring their roster back to the 10-man limit after losing players to 10-day Gatorade Callups.

The league-leading Riverdragons have acquired Neil Yanke to fill the spot vacated when the Atlanta Hawks signed Obinna Ekezie. The Dazzle have picked up Casey Sanders to fill the roster spot vacated when James Thomas signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Yanke, a 6-11, 252-pound center from Yale ('01), was in training camp with the Los Angeles Lakers this year before being waived on October 24. He averaged 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds as a senior at Yale and had been out of basketball until the Lakers signed him. Sanders, a 6-11, 215-pound center from Duke ('03), played last season in Sweden, where he averaged 10.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots.

Sanders is expected to be in uniform #19 when the Dazzle plays host to Florida tonight. Yanke will be in uniform when the Dazzle visits Huntsville on Saturday. He will wear jersey #49.
