
Columbus Riverdragons Announce 2004-05 Regular Season Schedule

Columbus, GA., July 20, 2004 â The Columbus Riverdragons will tip-off their fourth season of providing affordable family entertainment to the Chattahoochee Valley in their home opener, Saturday, November 20 at 5 p.m. as they take on the Huntsville Flight at the Columbus Civic Center, the team announced today with the release of their 2004-05 NBDL regular season schedule.
The Riverdragons will play 46 regular season games during the 2004-05 season, with 24 home games at the Columbus Civic Center. Columbus will play 14 of its 24 regular season home games on the weekends or holidays, including: Martin Luther King Day (Monday, January 17) and New Year's Day (Saturday, January 1). The Dragons schedule also includes eight Saturday home games.
The NBDL will showcase its players and their talent in a mid-season Celebration of Humanity and Basketball during MLK Jr. Weekend on January Sunday January 16th and Monday January 17th. All NBDL teams will converge on Columbus, to play a total of six (6) regular season basketball games. Many player personnel directors from NBA teams will be on hand both days to assess the next NBDL players to have their NBA dreams and aspirations come true.
The Celebration will be highlighted by recitations of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech by students from around the Chattahoochee Valley area. Also, basketball enthusiasts will have the opportunity to compete in "one on one" competitions, "3-Point Contests", and "Slam-Dunk Contests". Other special activities in and around the Satuday, Sunday, and Monday are being prepared in order to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy and the global game of basketball.
"We couldn't be more enthusiastic and raring to go for our fourth season of professional basketball here in Columbus," said Riverdragons team president J. Barry McMullin. "Our continued successes both on and off the court point towards another exciting season at the Columbus Civic Center. This year's schedule is by the far the best we have had, it will give us an opportunity to reach many more fans than we have in the past. If you haven't experienced a Riverdragons game just yet, our upcoming season is the time to do it."
The Riverdragons are offering several ticket options, including the introduction of their new "Big Six Ticket Package". Riverdragons fans can purchase four tickets to six key home games (one game a month) and receive four hot dogs, four bags of Tom's Foods chips, four Coca-Cola soft drinks, and four souvenir programs at each game. With the "Big Six Ticket Package", fans are given the best opportunity to experience a premier game date each month during the season, as the plans are entirely composed of weekends and holidays.
The Riverdragons continue to be one of the league leaders in selling season tickets for the '04-'05 campaign. In fact, the Dragons are on the verge of selling out their coveted 100 courtside seats with roughly 30 remaining for public consumption. This season's courtside season ticket holders will receive a bevy of season ticket holder benefits, ranging from a personalized seatback cover to a chance to win a trip for two to the 2005 NBA All-Star game in Denver, Co.
Once again, the Riverdragons are offering their "Rivvy D Kids Ticket" for all 23 home games. One of the best values in Columbus, all kids 12 & under can attend a Riverdragons game and sit anywhere in the Civic Center for just $7.50, based on availability.

The NBDL, the NBA's minor league, includes the Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), NBDL Florida, Huntsville Flight (Ala.), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.), Columbus Riverdragons (Ga.), and Asheville Altitude (N.C.).
The league offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Twenty-eight (28) players have been called up the NBA on 39 separate occasions. Six former NBDL coaches, two athletic trainers, six referees and 23 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001.
Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The NBDL is a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
