
Columbus Riverdragons Acquire Auburn Tiger, NBA Vet Adam Harrington

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 15 â The Columbus Riverdragons of the National Basketball Development League have claimed guard Adam Harrington and released forward/center J. Locklier, according to an announcement today by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Riverdragons head coach Jeff Malone.
Harrington, a 6-5, 200-pound product of Auburn ('02), comes to the Riverdragons after competing in NBA training camp with the Washington Wizards in 2003. Harrington played in 19 NBA games during the 2002-03 season with the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets. A two-year letterman at Auburn, Harrington averaged 12.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game during a three-year career with the Tigers.
The Bernardston, Mass. native was an early entry candidate for the 2002 NBA Draft following his junior season at Auburn. After going undrafted, Harrington earned an invitation to the Mavericks training camp and won a spot on the Dallas roster to open the season. He appeared in 13 games with Dallas, averaging 2.8 minutes and 0.8 points per game. Following his release from the Mavericks, Harrington was signed to a 10-day contract by Denver on March 23, 2003, then signed to a contract for the remainder of the season on April 2. He appeared in six games over the final three weeks of the season for the Nuggets, averaging 12.3 minutes, 3.2 points, and 1.7 assists while shooting 36% from three-point range. Harrington posted an NBA career-high with nine points, three rebounds, and three assists in 23 minutes versus the Houston Rockets on April 16.
A two-time Outstanding Offensive Player at Auburn, Harrington finished his college career ranked 19th on the Tigers all-time scoring list with 1,136 points. As a junior in 2001-02, he averaged 10.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 36% from three-point range. As a sophomore in 2000-01, Harrington was named to the Coaches All-SEC third-team, ranking eighth in the conference in scoring at 15.5 points per game.
Locklier appeared in nine games for the Riverdragons, averaging 8.7 minutes, 2.0 points, 1.2 rebounds per game. The 6-10, 245-pound product of Washington State ('02), shot 39% from the field and 36% from the foul line.
Harrington is expected to be in uniform when Columbus hosts the Charleston Lowgators (8-5) Friday, January 16 at the Columbus Civic Center at 7 p.m.. He will wear jersey #21.
Friday's home game will be highlighted by a live appearance from Dexter, the star of Nickelodeon's hit cartoon, "Dexter's Laboratory", who will meet, greet, and sign autographs throughout the game for kids of all ages. All tickets for kids twelve and under are only $5.
