
Columbus Destroyers to hold local tryout October 16th

COLUMBUS, OH â In preparation for the 2005 Arena Football League season, the Columbus Destroyers have scheduled an open-player tryout to be held at the Columbus FieldHouse on Saturday, October 16 at 8 a.m., Head Coach Chris Spielman announced today.
"The open workout is a great opportunity for us to evaluate some tremendous athletes and find out more about some quality players that we might want to take a closer look at," said Spielman. "Some great players have emerged from open tryouts and we hope to find that special player who can help us win football games."
All Destroyers football candidates should come dressed in non-contact football attire and are encouraged to wear the appropriate shoes for running on FieldTurf. There will be no helmets or shoulder pads in the workout. Potential players will go through various non-contact drills such as a 40-yard dash, short shuttle as well as position-specific drills. The tryout will start promptly at 8 a.m. and run until noon. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.
Cost for the tryout is $65 per person by pre-registering online at www.ColumbusDestroyers.com. All Pre-registration forms must be faxed to Matt Tremblay at (614) 246-3538 or dropped off at the Destroyers' front office in Nationwide Arena by 5 p.m. on October 13. Any pre-registration forms received after October 13 will not be accepted. Players may also register on the day of the tryout at the Columbus FieldHouse at $75 per person. Columbus Destroyers season tickets for the 2005 season are now available by calling (614) 246-HITS or by visiting www.ColumbusDestroyers.com. The Destroyers, in conjunction with Nike, will unveil a new logo along with modified uniforms for the 2005 season in November.
