
Columbus Destroyers Re-Sign Wide Receiver C.J. Johnson

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Destroyers have re-signed wide receiver C.J. Johnson and claimed defensive back Ronnie Amadi off waivers from the New York Dragons, club Partner, General Manager and President Jim Renacci announced today.
Johnson (5-10, 185, Tennessee State) signed with the club on April 19 and played in the season's final nine games. He caught 67 passes for 989 yards and 16 touchdowns to set career highs in receptions and receiving touchdowns. He ranked second on the club in receiving touchdowns and was third in receptions and receiving yards. He also had 14 kickoff returns for 251 yards. In 28 career AFL games, he has 192 receptions for 2,533 yards and 41 touchdowns.
Amadi (6-0, 185, Kansas) played in six games for the Dragons during his rookie season in the AFL and collected 24.5 tackles (20UT-9AT), two tackles for a loss and two pass deflections. He spent the 2007 season with the arenafootball2 league's Green Bay Blizzard, where he recorded 85.5 tackles (76UT-19AT), 36 pass breakups, eight interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. He led the league in pass breakups, while leading the Blizzard in interceptions and ranking second in tackles, en route to being named Second Team all-af2.
