Augusta GreenJackets News Release
North Augusta, SC - The Columbia Fireflies (Kansas City Royals) took advantage of eight walks from Augusta pitchers and walked away with a 12-2 victory. The win for Columbia evens the series heading into the final two games this weekend.
Columbia scored first in the 2nd inning on a Tucker Bradley flare. The Jackets had a quick response in the 3rd inning. Back-to-back walks with the bases loaded for Stephen Paolini and Willie Carter gave the Jackets their first lead of the night.
Chad Bryant Jr. gave Augusta 3.1 innings, allowing two runs while striking-out seven in his debut.
Columbia came back in the 4th inning with an eight spot. The rally was fueled by walks and wild pitches. Columbia scored two runs on wild pitches, and took advantage of four walks in the inning. A balk and an error also allowed runs to score. Columbia would not stop there. They'd add a run in each of the 6th-8th innings.
The GreenJackets offense scratched out seven hits, but could only bring home two runs.
