Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER - Feb. 25, 2008 - The Colorado 14ers beat the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the sixth straight time, pulling away for a 113-104 win on Monday night. The victory extends Colorado's winning streak to six games overall, and improves the 14ers to 21-13 on the season. Rio Grande Valley falls to 13-24 on the year with the loss.

Elton Brown and Eddie Gill led the way for the 14ers, who rallied from a six point fourth quarter deficit to take the win. Brown scored 25 points and pulled down a season-high 19 rebounds. Gill scored a team-high 26 points and dished out eight assists in the victory.

Rio Grande Valley took a six point lead halfway through the fourth quarter behind the hot shooting of guard Desmon Farmer. Farmer scored 15 of his game-high 31 points in the final period, and 25 in the second half to give the Vipers the late lead. Colorado countered with Gill scoring 13 points in the final 6:17 to help put the 14ers over the top.

"At this level Eddie's a guy that can dictate what happens on the offensive end and the defensive end and he knows that," said 14ers Head Coach Joe Wolf. "He's doing a great job of leading his team to wins right now."

Three of the wins during the 14ers current six game streak have come against Rio Grande Valley. Colorado continued a season long trend of dominating the match-up at the free throw line, converting 36 of 49 attempts while the Vipers went 20 of 23 in the loss.

Rio Grande Valley returns home tomorrow to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Colorado will visit the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on Friday.
