Collins Becomes Newest Swashbuckler

LAKE CHARLES LA. - The Louisiana Swashbucklers continue preparations for the 2011 season by signing Tory Collins to the team. The announcement was made by head coach Darnell Lee. Collins, at 6'3" and 295 lbs., played his college ball at Northwestern State University. He has experience as a defensive tackle, linebacker and offensive lineman. Collins at first signed with LSU and later transferred to Northwestern.

At NSU Collins was named a first team All Conference player and All American. After leaving Northwestern he was signed by the Chicago Bears in May 2007. "Collins has the kind of versatility we need for our team," Lee said. "His college and pro experience will be of great value to us on the field considering the new teams we will be facing."

Coach Lee also announced that new player tryouts are scheduled for Saturday, December 11th, in Cowboy Stadium at McNeese State University. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a non-refundable fee of $40. Athletes are asked to bring their own gear.

The Swashbucklers are reloading for 2011 and will start its seventh season on March 19th against the Albany Panthers. Then the Bucs will host the Alabama Hammers on March 26th in the Smuggler's Den.
