PISCATAWAY - Pride midfielder Chris Colliniates, the No. 25 overall pick in the 2007 MLL Collegiate Draft last month, was named the Cascade Rookie of the Week after a solid performance in the team's Week 6 win at Boston.
The face-off specialist won 15-of-23 draws and was 9-for-10 in the second half as the Pride picked up their second win in as many weeks, 13-10 over the Cannons. Colliniates also scored the first goal of his professional career in the win.
I was timing the lift well," Colliniates said of his success at the 'X'. "I didn't have to think about anything, I was just out there playing, and it worked out well for me."
And on scoring his first goal?
"It felt good," Colliniates said, "I didn't expect it to come so soon, but it was a good feeling. Hopefully it'll happen again."
It was the type of game Pride General Manager Trey Reeder saw coming when he drafted him in late May.
"Chris has a lot of ability and he is a big physical kid,'' Reeder said. "We know that as he gets more comfortable in this league there will be more performances like that one.''
The Pride return home this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for the first game of a five game homestand at Rutgers' Yurcak Field when they host the Cannons in the second half of a home-and-home. For tickets, call (973) 614-1792.
