Keystone Ice Miners News Release

FLINT, MI - Jacob and A.J. Coleman have had multiple linemates ever since the brothers were reunited on the Ice Miners roster in mid-November. They might have found a permanent partner in Noah Batis. The trio all produced multi-point efforts and contributed to three of the four Keystone goals in a 4-1 win over Michgian on Saturday night at Perani Arena.

Batis extended his goal streak to four games by netting his team-leading 13th goal of the season at 6:35 of the first period to open the scoring. Jacob Coleman found him alone in the slot and Batis pulled the puck to his backhand to beat Warriors goaltender Chase Munroe. A.J. Coleman picked up a secondary assist. A.J. found the back of the net for himself at 19:49 of the frame, taking a feed from Batis. Jacob also added an assist. The score was 2-0 Ice Miners after one period.

After a bizarre but brief "bat delay," the Warriors got on the board just 2:30 into the 2nd period when defenseman Mitch Wedding joined the rush and put home an Andrew Green rebound. Alex Berardinelli also assisted. The Warriors peppered Alex Blankenburg with 16 shots in the period but could not tie the score before the end of the frame.

In the 3rd, Matt Jones added some insurance with a powerplay goal at 12:46. A.J. Coleman initiated an odd-man situation in the zone and fed it off to Jones who put the puck over a sprawling Munroe. Michael Maiden also assisted on the goal. Defenseman Ji Young Li, playing in only his 2nd game of the season chipped in an empty net goal with 30 seconds remaining to make the score 4-1.

Blankeburg's 39 save effort was good for his 12th win of the season. The win for Keystone was its 10th in the last 12 games. The Ice Miners return home for a pair of games against the Soo Eagles Friday and Saturday night at the Ice Mine.
