
Cody Hall Enters 2nd Season With Miners

Marion, IL - The Southern Illinois Miners and manager Mike Pinto have announced that starting pitcher Cody hall_webHall will be returning to the Miners for the 2013 season.
"I am very excited to see Cody back with us," said Pinto. "He did a great job last season and gave us a chance to win every time he was on the mound. Cody joined us after a full college season and still pitched effectively. With a fresh arm this season I think his best success might still be ahead of him."
"I can't wait for the season to start," said Hall. "I'm ready to see all the guys and meet the new guys this year!"
Hall joined the Miners in June 2012 and made an immediate impact on the team and the Frontier League. The Opp, Alabama native went 9-0 in 13 starts to begin his professional baseball career. The Miners won every game in Hall's 13 starts. Hall pitched in his first game against Windy City, which the Miners won 8-5. Hall recorded his first win of his career at Joliet on June 28th. He threw five innings and allowed one run off eight hits in the Miners 7-4 victory over the Slammers.
Hall finished the regular season with a record of 9-1, losing his last regular season game to the Lake Erie Crushers on September 2nd. He posted an ERA of 2.63 in 78.2 innings pitched. In the 14 games Hall started, he allowed 28 runs and struck out 39 batters. Hall walked 30 batters and pitched a complete game 9-0 victory on July 14th at Rent One Park against the Joliet Slammers.
Hall recorded a 1-1 record with a 4.21 ERA in two starts in the postseason. In his first start against Traverse City in the first round of the playoffs, Hall pitched six innings and gave up one run off five hits in the series clinching victory at Rent One Park.
Throughout the season, Miners players were nominated to be the Extra Help Incorporated Player of the Month. Fans were able to vote on the Miners Facebook page. Each player who won Player of the Month advanced to the final vote for Player of the Year. At the end of the season, Miners fans voted Cody Hall as the Extra Help Incorporated Player of the Year.
The Southern Illinois Miners are the 2012 Frontier League Champions and have been awarded the Frontier League Organization of the Year three times since its inception. It has also set a new Frontier League attendance record in 2007.
