Cobras to Challenge Georgia Force

June 13, 2002 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Carolina Cobras News Release

RALEIGH, N.C. (June 13, 2002)- The Carolina Cobras host the Georgia Force in a pivotal Southern Division contest on Friday, June 14, 7:30 p.m. at the Entertainment & Sports Arena.

Carolina (4-4) holds a slim one-game lead over the Force (3-5), Orlando Predators (3-5) and the Tampa Bay Storm (3-5). The Cobras lead the all-time series 1-0 with a 55-54 win over the Force earlier this season in Atlanta (4/26/02). Carolina (4-4) leads the Southern Division by one-game and is coming off a heart-breaking 48-42 overtime loss to the Arizona Rattlers last week. Although the Cobras have lost two straight for the first time this season, both losses have come in heart-breaking fashion. Two weeks ago at Orlando, the Predators hit a last-second field goal to knock off the Cobras 33-30 at TD Waterhouse Centre (May 31), and last week the Rattlers used a touchdown in overtime to outlast the Cobras, 48-42. Carolina has dropped three of their last four games, but the last two have been decided by a total of nine points. The Cobras, 1-3 (.250) at home in 2002 and 8-10 (.444) at the ESA all-time, will be playing back-to-back home games for only the third time in club history (0-2).

Friday's game against Georgia can be heard live in the Raleigh-Durham area on WRBZ 850 The Buzz Sports Radio with Gary Hahn and Tony Haynes on the call. The game will also be televised on Turner South and HDNet (Direct TV). For single-game ticket information, call Ticketmaster at 919-834-4000.
