April 9, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Carolina Cobras News Release
CHARLOTTE â The Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League announced today that defensive specialist Glenn Davis has been placed on the injured reserve list and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury suffered in the club's loss to the New York Dragons last Sunday. In a related move, the team announced the signing of defensive specialist Henry Baker.
Davis (5-11, 189, South Florida) has started six games this season and currently stands third on the team with 20.5 tackles to go along with a team-high five passes defended. He came to Charlotte in the 2004 offseason after enjoying a successful rookie campaign with the Orlando Predators in 2003. A four-year letterwinner at South Florida, Davis recorded 15.0 tackles and two interceptions in six games.
Baker (6-2, 195, Maryland) most recently spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs prior to the 2003 NFL campaign. Signed in January 2003, he was released in the team's final roster cuts leading into the season opener. He garnered the attention of the Chiefs after posting 59.5 tackles, six interceptions and 17 passes defended in 2002 with the Albany Conquest of arenafootball2 â a team led by current Cobras Defensive Coordinator Ron Selesky. The former Terrapin enters his second season in the AFL after appearing in two contests for the New Jersey Red Dogs in 1999, contributing 7.5 tackles.
The Cobras will square off with the red-hot Indiana Firebirds on Sunday, April 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Conseco Fieldhouse. Carolina will look to snap out of its recent losing slump in an Easter Sunday matinee against an Indiana squad that has won four straight contests behind 20-year-old quarterback Adrian McPherson.
Cobras' flex plans and group tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 877-4-COBRAS or visiting www.cobrasfootball.com. Individual game tickets are available at the Charlotte Coliseum box office or at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 704-522-6500.
