Carolina Cobras News Release
The Carolina Cobras announced today that they have signed FB/LB Michael Blair and OL/DL Zac Zedalis. The team also signed OL/DL Thaddeus Bullard from the practice squad, released FB/LB Deryl Lane, activated and released QB Chad DeGrenier from injured reserve, and placed OL/DL Jim Stiebel and DS Robert Williams on injured reserve.
Blair joins the Cobras after playing five games last season with the Grand Rapids Rampage. He spent the 1998 NFL season with the Green Bay Packers and Cincinnati Bengals. The 6-0, 265-pound fullback was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the 1999 Expansion Draft, but was released prior to the start of the season. He played for the Frankfurt Galaxy in NFL Europe in 2000 and for the New York/New Jersey Hitmen in the XFL in 2001.
Zedalis played collegiately at the University of Florida. The AFL rookie was granted a rare sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA after a knee injury kept him sidelined for two years. He was named First Team All-SEC as a senior in 2001.
Bullard, a rookie, was released by the Cobras at the conclusion of training camp, but rejoined the team as a member of the practice squad last week. He played three years at Florida, playing in 44 regular season games and three bowl games.
Stiebel, who has started at center in each of the team¹s four games, was placed on injured reserve with a torn calf muscle. He suffered the injury in last Friday¹s loss to Orlando. Williams suffered a partially torn rotator cuff on February 14 against Detroit.
The Cobras travel to Grand Rapids this week to face the 3-1 Rampage on Friday. They return home the following week on Sunday, March 9, when they host the Las Vegas Gladiators at 12:00 p.m.
Tickets for all remaining home games played at the Charlotte Coliseum can be purchased at the Charlotte Coliseum box office, at all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 704-522-6500. Single-game tickets for all 2003 home games are available in the following prices: $8 (lower level end zones), $15 (lower level corners), $25 (lower level sideline) and $50 (lower level sideline).
Partial season tickets and packages for groups of 10 or more are available and can be purchased by contacting the Cobras ticket office at 1-877-4COBRAS or 704-940-2300.
