Marysville Meteors News Release
Columbus, Ohio---Cyclone Head Basketball Coach, Dave Cecutti, in his post tryout remarks to an impressive group of players made it clear that there was going to be some difficult decisions to be made in the next two or three weeks as the Cyclones lead up to pre-season training camp that begins March 2 in Columbus.
"As I mentioned to the players I was impressed with the talent level we had at the camp and the type of basketball condition most of the players came in with", said Cecutti. For our staff, this was the first look at some of these players in a very structured and controlled practice and game situation. It is apparent that we will have some tough decisions to make as we try and complete our pre-season practice roster but that is a good problem to have", he added.
The Cyclones, a first year team in the International Basketball league, will open pre-season training camp on March 2 in Columbus. The team will conduct a series of practices leading up to the team's opener on March 31st on the road against the Youngstown Wildcats. Cecutti said that he hopes to bring 14-16 players to the training camp and anticipates trimming that down to the 12-player roster sometime after the second full week of practices.
The Columbus Cyclones will provide an entertaining game. By allowing only one timeout per quarter and reducing the time between plays with an immediate inbounds, IBL games were fast and entertaining. In 2005 the IBL team scoring average was 127 points per game (and this game occurred in 2 hours).
The Columbus Cyclones professional basketball team of the International Basketball League will play twenty games in the 2006 IBL season, their first of ten home games will be Saturday, April 8th at 7:15pm against the West Virginia Wild. Westerville North High School will be the Cyclone's home venue for the 2006 season.
