July 31, 2013 - Lone Star Football League (LSFL)
New Mexico Stars News Release

The New Mexico Stars announce today that Chris Williams has accepted the Head Coaching and Director of Football Operations position for the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League. Williams goes with bitter sweet feelings as he has grown close to the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque communities , but feels being close to a bigger market (Dallas, Texas) is an opportunity for him to advance into the next level of the sport. "I'm very appreciative to the Stars fans and the cities of Rio Rancho and Albuquerque for all their support because of them we have been able to continue to move forward as a franchise, I will miss the Stars family but I look forward to the challenges that lay ahead for me", stated Williams.

William's decision to leave the Stars comes two seasons after being hired by the franchise to coach the inaugural team in 2012. Over his two seasons at the helm he improved a 2-12 team in 2012 to 6-6 in 2013 and led the Stars to the playoffs. In 2013 William's offense set LSFL records in multiple categories, which showcased Co-offensive MVP Kasey Peters.

The Stars will immediately start searching for a new head coach. "It's very tough to lose a caliber of coach like Chris Williams and it will be hard to replace him, but we will do our homework as an organization and make sure we bring in a head coach who will keep progressing this franchise to be a consistent winner" stated General Manager Abe Hernandez.
