Coach Rich Ingold Signs Two Year Extension

(Wilkes-Barre, PA) The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers organization is thrilled to announce that Pioneers head coach Rich Ingold has agreed to lead the 2007 American Conference Champions for the next two seasons!

Coach Ingold recently completed his most successful season in the af2 league by leading the Pioneers to the 2007 ArenaCup championship and finishing with an overall season record of 17-3 (14-2 regular season record). Ingold's overall career record is 60-27 and with a win against the Tri-Cities Fever on August 4, 2007 he achieved a league milestone by accumulating the most coaching victories in arenafootball2 league history. In addition, Ingold was named the 2007 Sportexe Coach of the Year as selected by a vote of his fellow arenafootball2 head coaches and members of the media.

Ingold's leadership resulted in the Pioneers' best season in franchise history as well as having several members of his team being recognized with af2 league honors. Terry Karg was named the SFC Assistant Coach of the Year, QB Ryan Vena was named Schutt Offensive Player of the Year, K David Davis was chosen as the Havoc Kicker of the Year, and DB Chris Royal was announced as the Spalding Rookie of the Year. The Pioneers also had five of their star athletes named to the American Conference All-af2 First Team.

"I'm very excited about being back as the head coach of the Pioneers, not only for the 2008 season, but for years to come as well," stated Ingold. "With the new ownership of the organization by Janet and Cosmo DeNicola I feel the team is in great hands. With the success of last season we're looking to build the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers into an af2 dynasty."

"I have complete confidence in Rich Ingold," commented Pioneers' owner Cosmo DeNicola. "He knows the arena game better than any coach in the business. He has a great eye for talent and is a natural born leader. The Pioneers are fortunate to have such a competitive and successful coach leading our team. I'm personally counting the days to the start of our 2008 season."
