Butler BlueSox News Release

Butler, PA - Central Michigan University is the team expected to give Kent State the most trouble in the MAC this spring. And while three players will be joining the BlueSox from Kent State, two more will come to Butler by way of CMU.

Left-handed freshman Adam Aldred will look to keep opposing hitters off-balance as one of the southpaws on Butler's staff this summer.

"Adam is one of five left handed pitchers we have on our staff for 2013," said BlueSox' manager Anthony Rebyanski. "I do believe that left handers just find ways to win."

"He comes to Butler with a very good recommendation from the Central Michigan coaches and I believe he will be able to make an impact whether he is a bullpen guy or a starter for us this summer."

A three-year starter and letter winner at his high school in Woodlands, Texas, Aldred was named MVP of the Houston TASO Tournament for the Houston city championship in 2011. He has also logged time as an outfielder.

Alec Ornelas is one of three catchers on the Butler roster. He is entering his sophomore season at CMU, having played last spring at Parkland College.

"Alec is a versatile catcher that will allow me to also use him in the field at third and first base if needed. Being a guy that displays some power in his bat, I look for him to fight for a spot in the middle of our lineup," said Rebyanski.

Ornelas is off to a quick start this year, having knocked a double and scoring a run in CMU's 2013 season opener. They defeated Louisiana 10-2.

"I look for Alec and the other two catchers to take charge of our pitching staff and be our leaders on game days. It will be fun to follow his progress this spring at CMU and I look forward to working with him this summer."

Ornelas was named to the All-Southwest Suburban Conference team and the 22nd Century Media Area second team in high school where he led his high school to the Quad-A state playoffs in Illinois.

Two more 2013 BlueSox, including the final catcher on the roster, will be announced next week.
