Prospect Lafayette Aviators

Close Game Ends in Loss

July 20, 2018 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Lafayette Aviators News Release

In a tight battle at Loeb Stadium, the Lafayette Aviators could not seal the deal against the Quincy Gems, losing 9-8.

The game at first seemed as if it would go the Aviators' way, as they began with a 3-0 lead after three innings. Through the first four innings, Quincy had only registered one hit. After the 5th inning the game had flipped upside down, with the Gems taking a 4-3 lead.

Lafayette would not be able to regain the lead in this one, despite tying the game at the end of both the 5th and the 6th innings. Once Quincy got their offense going they were tough to stop, posting three straight multi-run innings and securing hit after hit.

Jordan Libman and Kevin Raisbeck both had two hits and a walk on the night, with Libman batting in three runs.

The Aviators will get a shot at revenge when the two teams square off again Saturday night at Loeb Stadium, first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
