July 15, 2009 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Austin Turfcats News Release

AUSTIN, Texas - Austin Turfcats (9-2) running back Keith Clay has been named the Southern Indoor Football League's VIDSWAP.com Player Of The Week by virtue of his performance and fan vote in the final week of the SIFL's inaugural regular season.

Clay had a combined five touchdowns in the Turfcats' two victories over the Texas Hurricanes. He narrowly outdistanced teammate Ray Hall by just a handful of votes. A Turfcat has won the award seven times this regular season.

Each SIFL game has four MVPs, one for each category: offensive, defensive, line and special teams. Two game MVPs are selected to be on the Player Of The Week ballot for the fans to vote on at www.southnernifl.com.

On Thursday, the SIFL will announce its Hooters Players Of The Quarter for the final three weeks of the season. Darrick Wallace has been named the special teams Player Of The Quarter in all three previous quarters this season. The inaugural season all-league team is scheduled to be announced on Monday.

The Turfcats will host the Acadiana Mudbugs (6-5) Saturday in an SIFL playoff game. The winner of that game will face the winner of Monday's Louisiana Swashbuckler (10-1) versus Houma Conquerors (3-8) game in the SIFL Championship. Playoff tickets for Saturday's game are on sale now at www.Turfcats.com. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. at adfirmative.com Field at the Travis County Expo Center. Gates open at 2:30 and doors open at 5:30. Live updates will be posted on Turfcats.com and Twitter.com/austinturfcats.
