JOLIET, IL â The Joliet JackHammers enhanced their 2005 schedule with the addition of the "Budweiser I-55 Classic," an exhibition baseball game that will feature former St. Louis Cardinals versus former Chicago Cubs at 7:05 pm on Saturday, July 30 at Silver Cross Field in Joliet's City Center.
Players scheduled to participate in the event include right-handed pitcher Lee Smith (Cubs: '80-'87; Cards: '90-'93), right-handed pitcher Milt Pappas (Cubs: '71-'73), outfielder Bob Dernier (Cubs: '84-'87), and catcher/third baseman Keith Moreland (Cubs: '82-'87). Many more former Cubs and Cardinals will be scheduled to participate in this event. Area media and businesspersons will also be included on the rosters.
An autograph session will precede the game. Tickets for the "Budweiser I-55 Classic" are included in the JackHammers full season ticket package. Group ticket packages are available for the "Budweiser I-55 Classic."
The JackHammers have hosted numerous special events throughout their first three season including the Northern League All-Star Skills Competition and Game presented by Budweiser (2004), NASCAR Celebrity Softball Game (2004), Guns n'Hoses Charity Softball Game (Joliet Police vs. Fire Department â 2003 & 2004) and Michelob Ultra Cross Town Legends Game (former Cubs versus White Sox â 2003). The JackHammers will be on the road in Kansas City when the "Budweiser I-55 Classic" is played at Silver Cross Field.
CONCRETE CHUNKS: Silver Cross Field will be open to the general public on Wednesday, October 27 beginning at 6:30 pm for the Jack-O'Hammers Spooktacular World Series Party. Game Four of the Boston Red Sox-St. Louis Cardinals series will be on the video board in left field.
JackHammers manager Jeff Isom, new coach Joe Charboneau and All-Star outfielder Josh Loggins will sign autographs. Jammer will be there to entertain. Hot dogs, Pepsi products and hot chocolate will be served and are free of charge (while supplies last). The Pro Shop will be open with 2004 game worn jerseys available for purchase. Mark Carlson's Care will also have a coat drive. Admission to the event is free of charge. The JackHammers ticket staff will be present to provide customer service for those wishing to purchase full season tickets or group ticket packages for the 2005 season.
